Employment-based Green Card for Individuals with Advanced Degrees or Exceptional Ability (EB-2).
EB-1: This visa is a green card option for persons with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics; outstanding professors and researchers with at least three years experience in teaching or research, who are recognized internationally; Multinational managers or executives who have been employed for at least one of the three preceding years by the overseas affiliate, parent, subsidiary or branch of the U.S. employer.
EB-2: This visa is a green card option for professionals holding advanced degrees and those of exceptional ability. There are two subgroups within this category. (1) Professionals holding an advanced degree (beyond a baccalaureate degree) or a baccalaureate degree and at least five years progressive experience in the profession (2) Persons with exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business.
EB-3: This category is appropriate for Skilled Workers, Professionals, and Unskilled Workers.
- Professionals are members of the professions whose jobs require at least a US baccalaureate degree or a foreign equivalent.
- Skilled workers are persons whose jobs require a minimum of 2 years of training or work experience that are not temporary or seasonal.
- Unskilled workers (other workers) are persons capable of filling positions that require less than two years of training or experience that are not temporary or seasonal.
EB-5: This category is appropriate for Immigrant Investors. Immigrant Investor visa categories are for capital investment by foreign investors in new commercial enterprises in the United States which provide job creation.
Spouse, parents, if the applicant is at least 21 years old;
Unmarried children under 21 years of age;
Siblings if the applicant is at least 21 years of age;
Married children of any age

VAWA is the acronym for Violence Against Women Act. Even though it is called the 'Violence Against Women Act' (VAWA), men are also eligible under VAWA. This Act gives specific categories of persons (such as the spouse/parent and/or child of an abusive U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident the right to self-petition (i.e. without the help of the U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse) for your green card.
You must have a student visa to study in the United States. Your course of study and the type of school you plan to attend determine whether you need an F visa or an M visa. To enter the U.S. to attend University or College you will require an F visa. To enter the U.S. for a vocational or other recognized nonacademic institution, other than a language training program you will require a M visa.
